Know About the COEP Cut Off 2020

College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) need no introduction to the aspiring Engineering graduates. As the name suggests, the college is situated in Pune, Maharashtra. It is one of the premier institutes of India whose alumni has many stalwarts such as M Visvesvarayya, Gaur Gopal Das, Rajiv Bajaj, Atul Kulkarni, Venugopal Dhoot and many more.

The college’s motto is “Strength Truth Endurance Ethics Reverence” and was established 167 years ago in 1854, making it 3rd oldest engineering college in India. It was one of the first few colleges established by the British to serve the Indian subcontinent and still is one of the premier colleges for imparting quality education in academic experiences and social experiences.

It was ranked number one in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) in 2020; ranked 50th in the engineering ranking by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2020; ranked 15th in the engineering ranking by Outlook India.

In 2003, the college became autonomous and thus giving it the freedom to set its curricula and manage its finances. Currently, COEP provides nine undergraduate and twenty-four postgraduate programmes. This college has its proud heritage and legacy and set up an ambitious goal plan for 2022.

So, let’s find out the COEP cut off for 2022!

COEP Admissions

All admissions to College of Engineering Pune (COEP), both Undergraduate programmes (BTech, B.Plan), Lateral-entry (SY- BTech) and Postgraduate programmes (MTech, M.Plan, MBA) are centralised and effected by the Commissionerate of Admissions Maharashtra State.

For all its UG and PG programmes of study, COEP does not make any student admission of its own.

For UG programs:

  • Admissions to the first year of all the UG programmes and PG programmes are carried out before each academic year.
  • It can be through the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHCET) conducted by the Government or based on any other relevant entrance examination or eligibility criteria as decided and published by the Government for that year.

While in the case of PG programs, admissions are through a Centralised Admission Process such as GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) examination or based on any other relevant Entrance Examination or eligibility criteria as decided and published by the Government for that year.

It is prudent to understand the cutoffs if you are ignorant of the admission process of COEP. Let us discuss the admission process in COEP more in detail. Here is the principal information for the admission process of COEP 2020.

  • COEP considers MHT CET or JEE (Mains) score for admission. So, the cutoff of COEP 2020 signifies MHT CET or JEE Mains score.
  • For COEP M. Tech cutoff 2020, the institute considers GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) scores.
  • COEP cut off 2020 relies on MHT CET; this exam is administered by DTE, Maharashtra, not by COEP.
  • Candidates with a Diploma in any engineering field can join the 2nd year of any Bachelor of Technology course in COEP without worrying about COEP cut off.
  • This entry into B. Tech course without COEP cut off JEE (mains) is known as lateral entry, and it is commensurate with the order of the Government of India.

Courses Offered by COEP

Courses offered in COEP are BE/ B.Tech/ B.Planning, ME/ M.Tech/M.Planning and PG Diploma.

For B.Tech admissions:

  • The foremost criteria are to pass 10 plus 2 from any Board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with or Biotechnology/Biology as optional subjects. B.Tech acknowledgement is done through JEE (Mains) or Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET).
  • Complete admittance has been done based on the merit/rank in the JEE (Mains) or (MHT CET), the counselling process and the evaluation of documents.

For M.Tech admissions:

  • COEP offers admissions in various programmes such as Power Electronics and Machine Drives, Manufacturing Engineering and Automation, Automotive Technology, Power Electronics and Power Systems, Biomedical Instrumentation Engineering, Information Security, Computer Engineering, Construction Management, to name a few.
  • Eligibility for M.Tech Admission is Applicant should accomplish the Bachelor in Technology Engineering with 50% of marks. Applicants should apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

Signifiance of COEP Cut Off

  • College of Engineering, Pune Cut off depends on the JEE (Mains), MHT CET for UG courses and GATE for PG courses. As said earlier, COEP is a renowned institute, So, COEP cut off has its place.
  • COEP CUT OFF depends on the difficulty level of the examinations (JEE Mains, MHT CET, GATE and CEED. If the paper is easy, there will be a higher cutoff, and if the paper is difficult, the cutoff will be less.
  • Cut off of Engineering Colleges of Pune considers the COEP cut off.
